Mariposa Co-op figures in my first Philly memories-- the yummy food, my co-op jobs taking out the garbage and pouring honey from huge cans into small bottles, and the homey but cramped storefront-- so I was pleased last year when the Community Design Collaborative got involved in helping Mariposa make the move to bigger digs a block west on Baltimore Avenue.
At its new location, Mariposa will expand its hours, membership, relationships with local farmers, and community programs. The co-op is is in the midst of a $1 million capital campaign to fund the project's first phase. Here’s an update from the University City Review.
