2012 - The Collaborative sat down with Jason Austin-- architect, professor, and principal at Austin+Mergold -- to talk about volunteering with the Collaborative. Austin + Mergold volunteered as a firm to create a conceptual plan to revitalize Weccacoe Playground (Gardner Fox was also part of the team). The project received over $400,000 for improvements this spring.
Jason spoke with us about how his volunteer work has benefited his practice as well as to see what's brewing in his small urban office. Contrasting his volunteer work with the Collaborative with his day-to-day work, he said, "It was a different way to engage knowing that you didn't necessarily have to provide a vision, but that the vision was in their thoughts already. So it's just a matter of how you begin to record that vision."
