Meet Our Volunteers: Jeffrey Brummer

Meet Our Volunteers: Jeffrey Brummer

2012 - Architect Jeffrey Brummer has volunteered with the Community Design Collaborative for over five years and five projects. Jeff has led the project team for a master plan for Impact Services Corporation’s HQ in a former factory complex on Allegheny Avenue. But he’s also worked one-on-one with storeowners on Ridge Avenue to support the revitalization work of Francisville CDC. These days, he is most often found heading up the Collaborative’s Project Review Committee, which provides peer review of Collaborative projects-in-progress.

When we spoke with him, Jeff talked about what volunteering has taught him, “It really helped me to take my message and be able to communicate it… Before, in class or in the studio, you’re able to say things and people are going to get it because they work with it every day and see it all the time. Here, I had to learn to take ideas and to put them into plain language, which is really valuable.”
