Meet Our Clients: Lisa Armstrong, Greening Greenfield

Architect and Greenfield Elementary School school parent Lisa Armstrong was pretty forward-thinking in 2005 when she approached the Community Design Collaborative for a conceptual design for a sustainable schoolyard.

After our preliminary design seeded Greenfield's first grant, the Greening Greenfield Committee went on to raise funding and build all four phases of the project, from porous play surface to fruit and nut trees to green roof.

Now, Greenfield Elementary School is the "green standard" for other city school groups. Here, Lisa takes a break in the secret garden, the quietest corner of the schoolyard, to talk about the project's impact on Greenfield's students and the surrounding community.
