January's Landscape Architecture magazine includes a profile of Mami Hara, Deputy Commissioner of the Philadelphia Water Department and the innovative work happening around stormwater management here in Philly. "The Infiltrator" looks at Mami's role as a change-agent at the Philadelphia Water Department and what landscape architects can bring to leadership at a public agency.
See the interview on page 38 0f the January 2014 issue of Landscape Architecture. This "all-Philly" issue also includes profiles of firms who've volunteered at the Collaborative—OLIN and Adropogon.
The interview starts with a nod to Mami's community service at the Collaborative, a reflection of her broad-ranging involvement in the city's design, academic, and nonprofit scene. Mami was a member of the Collaborative's board for over five years. She served as board co-chair in 2011 and 2012, taking an instrumental role in an Infill Philadelphia initiative that explored design solutions for providing access to fresh food in urban neighborhoods.
