The Community Design Collaborative hosts Leverage each year to support our social impact design programs, showcase our work, and recognize local leaders in community design.
On April 2, 2019, a crowd of nearly 360 Collaborative supporters caught up with old friends, made new connections, and viewed an exhibition of recent projects by our volunteers. Together, we honored Connor Barwin with our 2019 Leverage Award in recognition of his work off the football field founding and leading the Make the World Better Foundation.
Make The World Better connects people and inspires stewardship through public space revitalization projects. It is currently completing improvements to Waterloo Playground in West Kensington, a focus of the Collaborative’s 2016 Play Space design competition.
Connor said, "One of the reasons we are at Waterloo is the Community Design Collaborative. The Collaborative’s initial drawings and renderings are so important to inspiring people in our neighborhoods to see what’s possible and to believe that they can do it... and to inspiring organizations like Make The World Better to get involved.” View all our photos from the evening.
Proceeds from Leverage 2019 will help the Collaborative provide preliminary design services to local nonprofits seeking to engage their communities and strengthen their neighborhoods.
Thanks to our 73 Leverage 2019 sponsors and to everyone who attended!
