Housing/Community Development

AEC Cares

The Collaborative had the unique opportunity to partner with AEC Cares, a national nonprofit which sponsors a community service project each year in the city that is hosting the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention. The Collaborative partnered with AEC Cares to find the right partner and site— Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Athletic Recreation Center. Collaborative volunteers developed the scope of work, managed product donations, coordinated the preparation work, designed interior improvements, and led a transformative work day that resulted in renovations to the entrance and lobby, upgrades to the performing arts auditorium, and complete overhauls of the kitchen, after-school art room, and costume room.
