Housing/Community Development

Mt. Tabor Community Education & Economic Devel Corp (CEED)

A faith-based nonprofit was determined to redevelop a large vacant lot in their East Poplar neighborhood as affordable rental housing for seniors. In 2004, Mt. Tabor asked the Collaborative to create a conceptual design to test the feasibility of their vision: a “Cyber Village” that enabled seniors tap into new technology and engage with the surrounding community. The Collaborative’s design team delivered a dynamic, colorful design that led to the initial funding for this $11 million, sustainably-designed, 56-unit development. Mt. Tabor celebrated the ribbon-cutting in January 2009.

It's rewarding to help make a difference by working on community-based projects in their too-early-for-funding stages.
