Economic Development

Mariposa Inc.

Mariposa Food Co-op had outgrown its storefront building on Baltimore Avenue. When an opportunity arose to expand operations at a vacant bank building nearby, Mariposa asked the Collaborative to create a conceptual design for a welcoming, environmentally sustainable new food market on the ground floor. The Collaborative also created a future blueprint for renovating the mezzanine and roof for community programs about nutrition and cooking. Mariposa celebrated the grand opening of its new store in 2012.

"Our buildings affect us in seen and unseen ways every day. We must be free to seek beauty and revitalization within our communities as we do within ourselves."
