Each year, a team of Collaborative volunteers develops a design-build project for PARK(ing) Day Philadelphia. In 2018, the Collaborative brought something new to the annual event – a “Playful Learning” theme. In coordination with Philadelphia Playful Learning Landscapes, the Collaborative and several other PARK(ing) Day teams incorporated opportunities for playful learning into their parklet designs. Our volunteers worked with children at McCreesh Rec Center to create a customizable game board that allows kids to invent their own games. After PARK(ing) Day, our parklet got a new home at McCreesh. Several other playful learning parklets were also installed in communities throughout Philadelphia.
