Housing/Community Development

Parkside Association of Philadelphia

Volunteers from the Community Design Collaborative developed a conceptual design for a new sports and learning facility to meet regional and community needs. The proposed center includes facilities for basketball, swimming, and track and field – as well as a fitness center, classrooms, and community space. The double-height lobby and large central staircase also act as a gathering and performance space. The project will restore street frontage on historic Parkside Avenue and reactivate a key neighborhood corridor along West Fairmount Park.
