Q. Why is design an important part of revitalizing communities?

R. Empowering and enriching inhabitants, design is essential in revitalizing communities because it humanizes the environment.  It brings order to chaos and enables growth by providing a framework and habitat for prosperity to occur.  While design is not a panacea, it provides a trellis for communities to flourish.

Q. What has been most surprising, rewarding, or fun about working on a project with the Collaborative?

R. Being given the opportunity to work together and be mentored by experienced and discerning professionals whom one would not normally be matched with has been the most rewarding aspect of working on a project with the Collaborative.  Working alongside such esteemed colleagues, especially through such noble endeavors, has been extremely fulfilling and gratifying, and I look forward to new projects and teammates.

Q. What do you love most about Philly?

R. Philly’s attitude and fighting spirit is what I love most.  Some may consider it “rough around the edges,” but I prefer “down to earth.” We are a world-class city with a rich history and an exciting future, yet we don’t take ourselves too seriously.  Our accessibility and lack of pretension belie our status as one of the largest cities in the country, and it makes me proud to have called Philadelphia home for almost eight years now.
