Why is design an important part of revitalizing communities?
An integral part of design work is thoughtfulness and attention, and communities in need of revitalization are often lacking attention. Inherent to a design project is that attention and thoughtfulness which is what many communities are in need of.
What has been most surprising, rewarding, or fun about your Collaborative experience?
The responses from clients are always incredibly rewarding. Additionally, clients often have the ideas to revitalize their spaces, but are often underfunded and overworked -- having a team of designers come seems to bring those ideas back up to the surface, and gives those ideas a new life.
What do you love most about Philadelphia?
The devotion its denizens have to their communities. People really care about their homes.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
As a person who has had my own personal struggles throughout my life, the people who gave me time and attention are the ones I credit with my continual perseverance. It is an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to be on the giving end of that care and attention to communities that are also in need.
